Chosen Answer:

There is a zero effect because they are “natural”…

They are a part of the natural cycle and progression of events in our Earth’s history…

By the way, “natural disaster” is an oxymoron in reference to the natural environment…

Natural disasters only refers to the effect of nature on human plans and schemes…

And in that vein almost “natural disasters” are really man caused disasters….

We build in a flood plane and call it a natural disaster when a flood comes along…

We build on a fault and call it a natural disaster when an earthquake occurs…

But in both cases they were really man-made disasters….

As Robert Burns said:
The best-laid schemes o’ mice an’ men
Gang aft agley,
An’ lea’e us nought but grief an’ pain,
For promis’d joy!

Or less poetic:
The best laid schemes of mice and men
Go often awry,
And leave us nothing but grief and pain,
For promised joy!
